[Issue/Bug]: Godot crashes when creating a new scene using Editor Presence #79

What happened?

When clicking the "+" button to add a new scene, Godot will crash. Before this the editor presence was functioning as normal, displaying Godot Engine with the code I am editing on Discord.

After this crash happens and attempting to open the Godot project again, the editor presence does not work even though the DiscordRPC plugin is still enabled and Editor Presence is enabled in editor settings. The issue can be reproduced multiple times by disabling the Editor Presence and click the checkbox for "On" to reenable. The editor presence will then work on Discord in displaying Godot Engine and the code I am editing. Then by clicking the "+" button again to "Add a new scene", Godot crashes.

Seems like this issue is similar to #62 but that issue was closed without any fix.

Exact steps to reproduce this error

  1. Install plugin and enable it for current project.
  2. Restart Godot.
  3. Enable the Editor Presence in the editor settings for Discord Rpc.
  4. Click the "+" button to the right of any scene you have created to "Add a new scene".
  5. Godot crashes.

This plugin is mainly for rich presence in your game. Editor presence is very experimental. I can't reproduce this issue. Also the other issue was closed because there was no answer. Editor presence will have an update in the future and maybe that fixes it but like i said i have no idea where it comes from. Sadly I only have time for high prio issues with the main rich presence

Maybe try running godot with --verbose and see if there are crash logs

Actually, I had this problem too. When the editor presence was enabled and I wanted to create a scene, it crashed.

I'm new to Godot and I am unsure on how to run with the --verbose flag since I just search for 'Godot' in Windows 10 search bar and click the executable from there. I navigated to the folder containing that executable and ran ./Godot_v4.2.2-stable_win64.exe --verbose in my WSL terminal but there does not seem to be any logs printed in the terminal. I also tried turning on "Verbose stdout" in the Godot Engine Project Settings in Debug/Settings/stdout and I did not see any output in the editor terminal when Godot crashed after enabling the plugin and creating a new scene. Not sure if this helps but here is the log file for the project where I used the Godot Editor Presence plugin which I found in AppData/Roaming/Godot/app_userdata/project_name/logs
